What is a turbo blow off valve

When you take your foot off the accelerator the car will not be burning fuel or consuming air so to avoid high pressure build up in the system the BOV releases the air either back into the unpressurised part of the intake near the filter or into the atmosphere. Most aftermarket BOVs vent externally and make a noise as they release the pressure.
